JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Sam: yes we had pay phones and could use them all day
until 9 at nite
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people?
Sam: local was about $3.00 long distancr was about
$10.00
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Sam: no but you could set up a pay in advance with
the phone company so you could get a lower rate
and also call cell phones
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Sam: yes the jail recorded all phone calls and would
listen to them
